This exfoliating treatment gives the complexion a boost, combats enlarged pores, works against pigmentation and leaves the skin smooth, even and soft. Add it to your facial to get the very most out of your maintenance, or opt for a course of treatments to tackle your skin concerns.
Microdermabrasion
In just one treatment, microdermabrasion tackles dead skin cells, a dull complexion and rough skin. This powerful peel instantly renews the top layer of skin, leaving your face looking smoother and more radiant. The medical microdermabrasion technique CHRIS uses is the Ultrapeel by Mattioli. Clients who have had other microdermabrasion treatments say this one is better and more efficient and gives a smoother result. Those who have used it for years often try other things, but come back because they love the Ultrapeel. The results are outstanding.
Add microdermabrasion to your ProSkin treatment and you're assured of smoother skin that looks and feels brand new.
How does microdermabrasion work?
For microdermabrasion we use the innovative and medically advanced Mattioli Ultrapeel device. The unique fine microcrystals provide mechanical exfoliation and vacuum the skin, so that dead skin cells are drawn away immediately. Microdermabrasion is an effective treatment that delivers impressive results after just one session.
Microdermabrasion is used for:
- Rough or oily skin
- A dull complexion (lacklustre skin)
- Enlarged or clogged pores
- Acne scars
- Superficial pigmentation spots
- Fine lines (skin ageing)
- Sun damage
- Impure skin, including active acne
- Skin ageing
- Smoker's skin
Microdermabrasion is used for:
- A fresh, clear complexion
- Smooth, even skin
- Better blood circulation
- Refined pores
- Fine lines and pigmentation spots fade
How many treatments do I need?
Are you adding microdermabrasion to your regular facial treatment? Then do so every 4-6 weeks; this gives you beautiful results every time. Would you rather target a specific skin concern? Then a course of 4-6 treatments already gives a good result. If you opt for a course, you may have a maximum of one treatment per week.
How many courses can I have?
You may have a maximum of two courses per year. After that you can maintain the result with one treatment every 4-6 weeks.
Does microdermabrasion hurt?
No. If your skin is very sensitive, you may feel a light scratching sensation at the start of the treatment. We assure you that the Ultrapeel microdermabrasion will undoubtedly be one of the most wonderful experiences you have ever had.
After the microdermabrasion treatment
Right after the treatment your skin may be slightly red. This is because microdermabrasion strongly stimulates blood circulation. The redness usually fades quickly. In some cases mild flaking can occur, but this is minimal. After microdermabrasion your skin is well able to absorb active ingredients from serums and creams. Of course we will advise you on this in detail after the treatment, so you get the best from your treatment at home too. Because microdermabrasion makes your skin more sensitive, we recommend protecting it with a high sun protection factor (SPF). After the microdermabrasion treatment it is advisable to avoid direct sun for 2-4 weeks. Preferably avoid make-up for two days and do not swim in chlorinated water during the first week.
When should I not have microdermabrasion?
We advise against microdermabrasion if you suffer from:
- Moles
- Eczema
- Psoriasis
- Skin inflammations
- Cold sores
- Sunburn
- Rosacea
- Skin cancer
- Active acne
- Herpes
- Actinic keratosis
Have you used vitamin A medication (isotretinoin, roaccutane)? Then you must have stopped using it for at least nine months.

What is the difference between microdermabrasion and microneedling?
Microdermabrasion is a skin-improving treatment therapy in which the skin is polished and its texture refined. Because dead skin cells are effectively removed, the result is smooth, even skin.
Microneedling is regarded as the most effective therapy for achieving beautiful, healthy skin and has everything it takes to treat any skin wish or skin concern expertly and with results in mind. Through perpendicular, vibrating movements with tiny needles, micro-injuries are created in the skin, prompting it to repair and renew itself at a deep level. Both treatments improve the skin, with microneedling also renewing it.
No idea which facial treatment to choose for your skin?
For a first visit we recommend the ProSkin 45 or – if you have a little more time – the ProSkin 60. With the ProSkin 60 you get the best introduction to the possibilities and modules of Dermalogica ProSkin. On your next visit we look together at what you and your skin need.
