Permanent make-up (PMU) pre-care and aftercare
Before you take a seat in our chair for permanent make-up, it's good to know how the treatment works. And what precautions you can take (at home). With the best pre- and aftercare, you get the most out of your PMU.
Permanent make-up (PMU) pre-care and aftercare
At CHRIS you are assured of the best permanent make-up in Den Haag and the surrounding area. Good pre- and aftercare is part of that. This way we can guarantee that you undergo PMU in the safest and most responsible way.
Pre-care for all permanent make-up treatments (PMU):
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before the treatment.
- Do not drink coffee or other caffeinated drinks on the day of the treatment.
- Do not take painkillers such as aspirin, ibuprofen and naproxen for 24 hours before the treatment. Paracetamol is fine.
- Do not exercise on the day of the treatment, and avoid it for up to three days after the treatment as well. Sweating causes the colour to fade faster.
- Are you coming for PMU eyeliner? Then don't wear contact lenses. You can put your lenses back in after three days.
- Come to the PMU eyeliner treatment without mascara.
- Do not use a waterproof make-up remover or an oil cleanser for seven days before your PMU eyeliner or lip pigmentation.
- Stop using lash serum two weeks before the PMU eyeliner treatment and remove lash extensions two weeks before the treatment.
- Do you have fillers in your lips? Then lip pigmentation can only take place after two weeks.
- Have you ever had a cold sore? If you're coming for PMU lips, take L-Lysine tablets for two weeks before and two weeks after the treatment. You can find these at a health food shop or drugstore.
Aftercare PMU
Naturally, you want to enjoy the result of your PMU treatment for as long as possible. With these aftercare tips you help your skin through the first days after the treatment and enjoy the result for longer.
- Scabs may form after PMU. Do not scratch or pick at them.
- Do not wear make-up on the treated part of the face for five days.
- Do not swim, sunbathe (including tanning beds) or go to the sauna for the first five days after PMU. Afterwards, always use SPF 30 to protect your skin optimally.
- Do not have any facials for the first two weeks after PMU.
Aftercare PMU eyebrows
- Care for the skin of the eyebrows immediately after the PMU treatment with a damp cotton pad. Dab gently, do not rub. Repeat this every 20 minutes during the first hour after the PMU. After that, every hour, up to four hours after the treatment.
- Do you still see a lot of colour on the cotton pad after four hours? Then clean your eyebrows once more after an hour with a fresh damp cotton pad.
Aftercare PMU eyeliner
- Immediately after the treatment, rinse the eyes with cold water. Dab dry with a tissue. Repeat this one and two hours after the treatment.
- After this, your eyes must not get wet for 48 hours!
- Swelling is a normal occurrence after PMU eyeliner. It disappears after a few days. Does the swelling actually get worse after two days? Or do you experience redness or bleeding? Then contact your GP.
Aftercare PMU lips
- Care for the lips immediately after the PMU treatment with a damp cotton pad. Dab gently, do not rub. Repeat this every 20 minutes during the first hour after the PMU. After that, every hour, up to four hours after the treatment. Continue doing this until no more lymph fluid comes onto the cotton pad.
