A fungal nail is a (harmless) condition in which the nails discolour and/or thicken. Fungi like to settle in warm, moist places, so you easily pick them up in the sauna, the swimming pool or in a public shower. Poor blood circulation in the skin can also contribute to a fungal nail. You can often recognise a fungal nail by a white or yellow discolouration on the nail surface. At CHRIS we remove fungal nails quickly, effectively and virtually painlessly with the NeoGen™ EVO. How does removing a fungal nail with the NeoGen™ EVO work?
When nail-fungus oil or another over-the-counter product and laser treatment do not work to remove fungal nails, a plasma treatment offers a solution. The newest treatment for removing fungal nails is nitrogen plasma treatment with the advanced NeoGen™ EVO. This powerful device destroys the fungi without damaging the nails, the nail bed or the skin. The treated area grows out on its own and then makes way for a healthy nail without fungus. During the treatment you mainly feel warmth; the treatment is virtually painless.

Which pedicure  device do we use?
To remove fungal nails we work with the professional NeoGen™ EVO. The NeoGen™ EVO uses plasma formed from medical nitrogen, with which the skin can be regenerated both superficially and from within. The NeoGen™ EVO converts energy with nitrogen gas into plasma, for a safe fungal-nail treatment, fast recovery of the nail and the best result.

How many treatments do I need?
For the best result we treat the fungal nail three times, each with an interval of about four weeks. After these treatments we check whether the result is satisfactory. It often takes several months before the nail is completely healthy again – this depends on the severity of the fungal nail and your personal lifestyle. The costs are per foot, with mandatory use of our Miconazol and Dermonal products.

On the treatment day
Bring clean shoes and socks washed at 60 degrees to wear after the treatment. Bring Miconazol nail polish to every treatment; it is applied to the nails immediately after the treatment. Due to the heat of the NeoGen™ EVO, the area around the nail may become red. This disappears within a few hours after the treatment. Small blisters may form around the nail. This too disappears on its own.

Plasma treatment for fungal nails is not possible:

• During pregnancy.
• If there is a hypertrophic or keloid (extremely thickened) scar in the area to be treated.
• If there is active eczema in the area to be treated.
• If you use certain medication. The use of medication is discussed during the intake. If anything changes in your medication in the meantime, we would like to hear about it.

Fungal nail aftercare
To prevent you from catching a new fungal infection between treatments, it is essential to follow a number of guidelines:

• Clean your feet daily and use a clean towel. Make sure you dry your feet well, especially between the toes.
• Clean the shower cubicle after use or wear slippers, as fungi can be present between the tiles and are contagious.
• Wear clean socks daily, preferably cotton ones that can be washed at 60 degrees.
• Air out your shoes daily by alternating pairs. You can also use Dermonal spray or sprinkle Miconazol powder into your shoes at the end of the day.
• Apply Miconazol nail polish daily, in the morning and evening, until a healthy nail has grown, usually after about 7 months or longer. Clean the nail(s) before each application with acetone to prevent the polish from becoming too thick and the medicine from being unable to penetrate the nails properly.
• Fungal nails are stubborn; stay alert for reinfections and get in touch if needed.
