Electric hair removal (electrolysis) at CHRIS

You can remove unwanted facial hair effectively and permanently with electric hair removal. For this method of hair removal we use an electric epilation device. Through a fine needle, an electrical pulse lasting a few seconds is delivered to the hair follicle. The hair can then be removed, root and all. With electrolysis we can guarantee around 80% hair reduction. Electric hair removal can also be used after laser treatment, when the laser device has not sufficiently removed hairs that are too light or too fine. How does electric hair removal work?

During electric hair removal, a sterile, ultra-thin needle is inserted alongside the hair, beneath the skin. You (almost) do not feel this. The tip of the needle heats up and can thus destroy the hair root. The hair then comes loose and can be removed with tweezers. With electrolysis we work hair by hair, unlike laser hair removal. A major advantage of electric hair removal is that we can also remove hairs that are not suitable for laser, such as red, grey and white hairs, or very fine hairs. For darker skin types too, electric hair removal on the face is a very safe and effective treatment method. In all other cases, our laser hair removal is an alternative.

Step 1: free intake and a tailored treatment plan

Taking the step towards electric hair removal can feel a little exciting. No worries! At CHRIS we have genuine experts who tell you everything about permanent hair removal, can take away your concerns and put a treatment plan on paper together with you. During the free, no-obligation intake we discuss your wishes and the course of the treatment, and we study your hair growth. Once we know your skin type and have mapped out the colour and thickness of your hairs, we create a treatment plan. You will then also know roughly how many treatments you need. After the intake, it is time for your first treatment.

Step 2: the treatment

Come to the treatment unshaven. The hairs need to be long enough to be removed with tweezers. Before hair removal, we cleanse you with Dermalogica products and prepare you for the start of the treatment. The treatment itself takes half an hour on average, depending on the area to be treated. The hair removal can feel uncomfortable. After electric hair removal, the skin may be red and irritated. This usually disappears within one to a few hours. To cool and care for the skin, we apply a soothing aloe vera gel after the treatment.

Step 3: aftercare and progress

Because the skin is stimulated considerably during electrolysis, your skin is more sensitive to sunlight. After the treatment it is therefore important to protect your skin well with a high-factor sunscreen. What is the difference between electric hair removal and laser?

Because electric hair removal is a time-consuming treatment, we only treat facial hair. With electric hair removal we can also treat light (white, grey, red) hairs and very fine hairs.
