Microneedling - Dermapen and M-pen treatment
What is microneedling?
Microneedling ‘stimulates’ the skin cells and the connective tissue. This sets a natural repair process in motion. The skin starts producing new connective tissue fibres, cell division gets a boost and the production of collagen and elastin is stimulated. Microneedling thins the skin's horny layer, leading to a more even complexion and less risk of impurities. After the treatment, dead skin cells flake away, giving a more radiant face after just one session. Microneedling is a safe treatment in which – without damaging the skin – tiny micro-wounds are created. The skin is, as it were, perforated. This is sensitive, but fortunately short-lived; the needling takes no more than ten minutes. Treatment with the Dermapen 4 is less painful than other microneedling treatments and has a shorter recovery time.

The recovery time is shorter and, moreover, the Dermapen 4 allows more precise and deeper work, making the treatment more comfortable at the same time. The Dermapen 4 has sixteen high-quality needle cartridges, the needle depth is adjustable and the speeds can be set. A Dermapen 4 treatment does not damage the skin, but rather stimulates it to renew and improve.
Microneedling treatment at CHRIS
A Dermapen microneedling treatment takes thirty minutes. Of this, we work intensively on the skin with the needles for five to ten minutes. The treatment consists of:

The wound-healing process during microneedling
The Dermapen 4 and M-pen create hundreds of micro-channels per second in the skin. This sets in motion a natural wound-healing process that stimulates the keratinocytes and fibroblasts in the skin to begin skin improvement. The fibroblasts start to multiply. This leads to accelerated production of collagen and elastin. The formation of new blood vessels ensures that every cell can function properly again. Old, damaged cells are broken down and leave the body, and new cells are created. This process can continue for three months to sometimes years after the last treatment. This makes microneedling a long-lasting skin-improving treatment.

Who is microneedling not suitable for?
If you have sensitive skin, microneedling is not a sensible choice. Microneedling is also not recommended if you are pregnant or taking blood thinners. Further contraindications:

Of course, an intake takes place before the microneedling. This determines whether your skin is suitable for a Dermapen treatment.
Recovery process after the treatment:
- Up to 24 hours after the treatment: pinpoint bleeding and slight swelling of the skin, red/pink
- 1-2 days after the treatment: occasional pinpoint bleeding, swelling subsides, slight itching, a dry/tight feeling
- 2-3 days after the treatment: pinpoint bleeding and swelling disappear, itching decreases and slight flaking
- 3-4 days after the treatment: the skin may look dry
- 4-5 days after the treatment: the skin has fully recovered and functions normally
Up to 48 hours after the microneedling treatment:
- On the day of the treatment, do not use any more make-up or skincare products.
- Avoid physical exertion (exercise), hot showers, sauna visits and swimming.
- Avoid the sun for fourteen days. Always protect the skin with at least SPF 30.
How often do I need microneedling?
Even after just one microneedling treatment, your skin gets a real boost. The skin looks more radiant and firmer and the complexion is considerably improved. But for genuine skin renewal and improvement, several treatments are needed. The ideal number of treatments varies per skin type and skin concern, but you can expect a course of four to six treatments. There should be at least two and at most eight weeks between treatments. During the intake we determine your skin type and skin condition and, based on your needs, tell you which frequency we will follow. We also explain the aftercare instructions, so you get even more benefit from the microneedling.
