How does laser hair removal work?
During the laser treatment, the hair follicles are destroyed by means of light pulses. This happens very precisely through the absorption of the light in the pigments of the hair root and without damaging other skin structures. Our laser device delivers a powerful, concentrated, pure beam of light that is ‘fired’ at the hair for a fraction of a second. This process is only effective during the growth phases of the hairs. However, hairs are not all in the same phase at the same time. For that reason, several laser treatments are needed. On average, 6 to 8 treatments are sufficient. The time between treatments depends on the treatment area. For the face this is usually 5 to 6 weeks and for the body about 8 weeks.
About our laser device: the Elits Epil808 Diode Laser
For laser hair removal, the laser experts at CHRIS use the Elits Epil808 Diode Laser. This professional laser meets the highest medical and European safety standards, offers high-quality performance and results, and is manufactured by an Italian family business. Because the skin is cooled directly during the laser treatment, clients experience the treatment as virtually painless. Another plus is that the Elits Epil808 Diode Laser offers a minimal risk of hyperpigmentation.
Laser treatment at CHRIS: this is how we work
When you choose laser hair removal at CHRIS, we guide you from intake to the final treatment. Below you'll find how we work.
Step 1: free intake and a tailor-made treatment plan
We understand that the step towards laser hair removal can be quite exciting. Perhaps you've shaved your whole life and hair removal by means of laser is new to you. No worries! At CHRIS we have real laser experts who will tell you all about laser hair removal, can take away your concerns and draw up a treatment plan together with you. During the free, no-obligation intake we discuss your wishes and the course of the treatment, study your hair growth and measure your skin with a medical pigment and redness analyzer. That way we know exactly what your skin type and sensitivity are, so we can set the laser safely and perfectly to your skin. This way we can’t make any mistakes and you are assured of an optimal result. Once we know your skin type and have mapped out the colour and thickness of your hairs, we create a treatment plan. You'll then also know roughly how many treatments you need. After the intake it's time for your first laser treatment.
Step 2: the laser treatment
For the first treatment you come to the salon unshaven – with a few weeks of hair growth. That way we can study your hair growth and colour properly. Before the treatment begins, we take photos of the area to be treated, so we can properly map the progress and result. These photos are not used for any other purpose. We first cleanse your skin with Dermalogica products, shave the hairs and prepare you for the start of the treatment. During the laser treatment, the treated zones are measured for pigment and redness, so we are sure the laser device is set to the most effective settings. The laser treatment itself takes a maximum of half an hour, depending on the area to be treated. The laser treatment feels as if an elastic band is briefly snapped against the skin. You do feel it, but it is virtually painless. After the laser treatment we care for your skin with a cooling and soothing aloe vera gel.
Step 3: aftercare and progress
After one week you may expose the treated areas to the sun or sunbed again. Always cover the skin with a high-factor sunscreen. After about six weeks the next treatment takes place, as the next growth phase of the hairs then begins. Do not wax or epilate the area to be treated between treatments. If you do, the laser treatment will have less effect. Before the next treatment, shave the treated areas 48 hours in advance and leave a little of the hair growth so we can see how fast your hair growth phase is. Does anything change in your medication or health? Always report this to us before the next treatment. Do you have questions in the meantime? You can always reach us.
