What is laser hair removal of the upper lip?
Removing hair on the upper lip is a very popular treatment among women. It's such a small area that it can be treated during your lunch break. Your session takes no more than ten minutes. Laser hair removal of the upper lip is a great and affordable way to remove unwanted facial hair. The treatment does not remove light or very fine hairs; for those we recommend our electric hair removal. The upper lip covers the area directly above the lip and not the area around the chin. The lip is a hormonal area, which means the hair is darker, thicker and more resistant. For that reason you may need more sessions. Because the area is sensitive, we recommend applying our aloe vera gel after your session to soothe the skin. At CHRIS beauty bar we also offer a treatment for the entire face, chin and lower lip.
Which factors can affect my upper lip laser treatment?
There are various factors that can influence the results of your upper lip laser treatment. Although laser hair removal is suitable for all skin tones, the success of the treatment depends on the contrast between the skin and the hair. Dark hair on dark skin or light hair on light skin can be more difficult to treat. People with dark skin and dark hair, or fair skin and blond hair, may need more sessions to tackle all the hairs effectively. Genetics and the hair growth cycle also play a role in determining the number of sessions needed. Strong hair growth and high hormone levels can make the treatment more difficult. The face is a very hormonal area, which causes the hair to grow thicker, darker and faster. That's why we'd like to invite you for a laser intake consultation to look together at which treatment method (electric hair removal or laser) is most suitable for you.
How do I prepare for upper lip laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal of the upper lip is fairly simple. It's a quick and convenient way to remove unwanted hair. Here are some tips!
- Keep your upper lip out of direct sunlight and avoid tanning beds or intense UV radiation.
- Tell your therapist about any medication you are taking.
- Cleanse your skin and keep it free of lotions, creams, moisturisers, perfumes and make-up.
- Make sure you shave 48 hours beforehand, or at least three hours before your session.
When will I see results after laser hair removal of my upper lip?
Upper lip laser hair removal is super handy for getting rid of unwanted hair, but it's not a quick fix. Each session only tackles a maximum of 20% of the hair. So after each session you'll see a reduction of about 20% of your hair. After a week the hair already starts to fall out, and after the third session you should have lost at least 50% of the hair. But keep in mind: to make the treatment effective, it's important to schedule each session about four to six weeks apart. If you don't, it will take longer to achieve the results you want. So stay consistent and stick to the schedule!
